OPJ Student Event
"Collecting Pieces of Light - Student Exchange Meeting"
Optics & Photonics Japan 2024 (OPJ) will be held at the University of Electro-Communications!
This will be an opportunity for many researchers in the field of light, from veterans to students, from all over Japan and the world, to gather at our university. As the OPTICA Student Chapter at UEC, whose activities aim to expand exchanges, we are very much looking forward to this event.
In particular, this will be a valuable opportunity for up-and-coming student researchers and Student Chapter members from all over Japan to gather together, providing a great opportunity to expand and strengthen student networks.
So, this time, as part of the OPJ event, we will be hosting a student-run social gathering!
After listening to a presentation at an academic conference, I'm sure everyone has had the experience of being interested in the research content and wanting to ask questions or talk, but not having the courage to go and talk to someone... It's not difficult once you get used to expanding your network at academic conferences, but there aren't many opportunities to take the first step.
At this event, we will hold a bingo tournament where the more participants introduce themselves, the more likely they are to win prizes . Since this is a student-run and student-only event, it will help students to broaden their interactions with each other, and it will also serve as an exercise in broadening their interactions. There will be many prizes available as a memento of participating in OPJ, including official University of Electro-Communications goods, so please invite your lab members and others to participate!
If you are planning to attend, please fill out the registration form to ensure smooth operation of the event. We appreciate your cooperation by filling out the Google form at the URL below.

Event details
[First half] Self-introduction and creating a bingo card
Participants introduce themselves to each other and write their university name and name on each other's bingo cards. The goal is to fill up all the squares on the bingo card in the first half of the session, while also touching on research fields and expanding interactions.
[Second Half] Bingo Game A random bingo game will be drawn from the papers with the names and university of all the event participants written on them. If that name appears on your bingo card (if you introduced yourself in the first half), you can open that square. If you open a row, it's BINGO! You can receive a prize. After the game ends, you will keep your bingo card with the names of the people you greeted in the first half written on it, so you will have a record of who you greeted this time.
