Meeting with Bristol Optica Student Society !!

Good to see you guys!

Last week, we had the chance to have dinner with Hugh and Yolan from the Bristol Optica Student Society. Hugh and Yolan are the president and the vice-president of the society, respectively. From our side, Kei, Hajime, and a B4 student from outside of our chapter.

We shared what kind of activities we do and how we engage with people both on and off campus. What impressed me was that their society has students from bachelor's to PhD, and they had an advertising department and a planning department, as the company does. Since we don't have so many people in our chapter, individuals have several things to do. I realized that if we have more people, we can create such a department!

We also shared about each other's universities and countries. It was really interesting to learn about the politics, culture, and education. I found it particularly interesting to hear that, just as students in Japan study modern Japanese, classical Japanese, and Chinese classics, students in the UK study medieval English literature, Latin, and Greek—and that it’s okay to forget them because they’re not used in everyday life.
